Grounds Maintenance

The Barbour County Commission is accepting applications for the position of Grounds Maintenance. Responsibilities will include a variety of grounds keeping, animal shelter maintenance including care of detained animals, and general maintenance to county owned facilities. Position requires the ability to communicate and work with multiple supervisors and at multiple locations. Schedule will include weekend hours. Mountaineer Trail Network Board Member

MOUNTAINEER TRAIL AUTHORITY

BARBOUR COUNTY IS TO APPOINTMENT TWO MEMBERS TO THE BOARD

 Mountaineer Trail Network Authority, which shall consist of representatives from Barbour, Grant, Harrison, Marion, Mineral, Monongalia, Preston, Randolph, Taylor, and Tucker counties.

Recreational purposes of the trail system include, but are not limited to, any one or any combination of the following recreational activities: hunting, fishing, swimming, boating, camping, picnicking, hiking, bicycling, mountain bicycling, running, cross-country running, nature study, winter sports and visiting, viewing or enjoying historical, archaeological, scenic, or scientific sites. *Note: All activities associated with the Network are non-motorized.

Each participating county commission must appoint two representatives

(1) Each participating county shall appoint one member who represents and is associated with a corporation or individual landowner whose land is being used or is expected to be used in the future as part of the authority’s recreational area. This member shall be appointed to a four-year term.

(2) Each participating county shall appoint one member who is an experienced instructor, guide, or participant in recreational activities in the county or an individual who represents and is associated with travel, tourism, economic development, land surveying, or relevant engineering efforts within the county. The initial appointment for this member shall be for a two-year term, but all subsequent appointments shall be for a four-year term.

Event Coordinator- Barbour County Fairgrounds

Barbour County Commission is seeking a motivated and creative individual to serve as a part time Event Coordinator at the Barbour County Fairgrounds. This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, public relations, reservations, planning and coordination of events. Prevention Resource Officer

The Barbour County Sheriff’s Department has an opening for a PRO position at the campus of Philip Barbour High School Complex. Duties include working with school admin. on juvenile matters, circulate and communicate with the students, concentrate on preventative programming in various settings, visit the county Elem. and Middle schools and attend extra-curricular activities and events. The officer will adhere to all established PRO guidelines before entering the school.

Requirements:

The officer must be a certified civil service officer with at least one year of road experience and complete the required Department of Criminal Justice Services training to become a certified PRO and must attend all required training to keep current. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Deputy Circuit Clerk

The Barbour County Circuit Clerk is seeking a full-time deputy to perform clerical duties such as organizing and filing documents, data entry and receptionist work in support of office activities to begin January 1, 2020.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to type proficiently, operate a personal computer, and use office software to complete daily tasks including Word, Excel and Quicken. References Required.

DEPUTY ASSESSOR

 The Barbour County Assessor office is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Assessor.

Duties:  Deputy Assessor will perform general office duties, field work outside the office including but not limited to computers, typing, filing, entering data, visiting real estate, working with various reports, telephone skills, usual clerical functions, greeting taxpayers and working with the public.

Qualifications: Position requires a high school diploma. Experience in real estate and Personal Property preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Maps, CAMA/IAS system is a plus. Must have general knowledge of Barbour County, be able to speak with property owners in a professional manner, must be good at multi-tasking, organized, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a team player.

  • Starting salary will be based on experience.
  • WV State Code requires that all deputy attended a Basic Assessment Training

Records Clerk

The Barbour County Commission is accepting applications for a Records Clerk position to maintain and preserve permanent records. Successful applicant will image, review and build permanent records and provide staff support where needed. Applicant will manage and organize special projects and grants for records management. Applicant should be skilled with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, employees and the general public. Experience with record keeping and record management preferred. This position is appointed by the Barbour County Commission and successful applicant would report to the Commission.

The Barbour County Commission is accepting applications for the position of Dog Warden. Responsibilities will include a variety of dog warden duties including but not limited to supplying food, water and care to detained animals, impounding dogs, enforcing the county leash law ordinance, examining dog licenses, maintaining files as required, assisting Humane Officer as needed and maintaining shelter facility. Must have the ability to use a computer and related software, office equipment, research specific laws as needed, write clearly, have sound judgment, and be in good physical condition. Must be able to communicate professionally with the public, work well with veterinarians, Animal Rescue Groups and Animal Advocacy Agencies. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent certification and must possess a valid State of West Virginia Motor Vehicle Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
